Welcome to the City of Jackson, Ohio

Dear Visitor and Friend,

A most sincere welcome to Jackson, Ohio!

The city of Jackson is in the heartland of the midwestern United States, a city within one day’s drive of two-thirds of the population of the United States, and within a two-hour drive, almost all by four-lane highway, of seven major interstate highways.

It is a rural community of 6,500 people with new schools and new healthcare facilities, almost all built new within the last 15 years. It is also within 90 minutes of such major universities as Ohio State University, Ohio University and Marshall University. We are truly in the center of everything!

Jackson is a friendly community with a heartfelt Appalachian lifestyle, where neighbors know neighbors and a perfect locale to raise a family, striving to make everyone’s life a little better and making sure our citizens get a greater return than the investments they are asked to make.

I have lived in Jackson all my life and there is nowhere else I would rather be. My great-grandfather was in the first graduating class of Jackson High School in 1876 and my mother’s birthplace has been farmed by seven generations of my family since before the Civil War.

We are also home to one of Ohio’s great fall gatherings, the Jackson Apple Festival held every September.

Jackson is truly a fun place to visit, a wonderful place to start a business with a very good, dedicated and dependable workforce, and just a great place to live. We offer a heartfelt thank you for checking us out and hope to see you someday soon.

Sincerely yours,

Randy R. Heath, Mayor
