We would like to share with you some of the things about our dept and a little bit about how it works. Our office works hand and hand with the Utility Dept which is two different departments. The Utility Department is where you pay your bills and call for you general information about all your utilities in the city. Our department works and maintains all power lines to your home. To place a work order for our department you must call the Utility Department at 286-4419 and in turn they will write up a work order and fax to our office and in turn we will dispatch someone to that call. If you need to talk with us directly you can call (740) 286-3931, that is the office number. If no one answers, please leave a message and your number and someone will return your call.

The Utility Office hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Our office hours are from 7:30a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Also we do have people on duty call or after hours to respond to any trouble calls that will arise. All you have to do is call the Local City Police Department at 286-4131 and report the trouble to them and in turn they will dispatch people out to resolve the trouble call. That is a 24 hour service after 4:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday and the weekends that the city provides good service to our Electric Customers. Our goal is to give good service to our customers and we always strive to reach that goal.

Also we have a small tree crew that trims trees from underneath our power lines and between sidewalks. We will trim trees that belong to city owned property if the need shall arises. We also chip up tree limbs from a residence if the home owner himself trims his own trees on his own property and if he puts the limbs on the curb of the street.

We will not pick up anything other then tree limbs. We can’t chip trash or lumber or bricks ect, ect. The only thing that we chip is tree limbs. The home owner will have to get rid of anything other than the limbs. Also the home owner will have to call the Utility Office for a work order for us to come and chip the tree limbs, Again the number is 286-4419. Also we only pick limbs up on Tuesdays of every week. So in the spring when people trim a lot of trees we may get backed up, so if we don’t make it there on that Tuesday it will be the next Tuesday to pick up and chip your tree limbs.
